Self-Denial on Syria

Western Shabiha and Arab anti-imperialists have reached their verdict about what's happening in Syria. This is an "armed insurrection" which is being "falsely" portrayed in the Western media as a peaceful revolution. The body count is dismissed as inflated and manipulated and the Syrian regime is a reasonable, paternalistic regime that is doing its best to satisfy the democratic aspirations for its people whilst also fighting a sinister conspiracy. One Assad supporter I know likened the deaths of innocents with a father who, annoyed by foolishness and only wishing the best for his family, smacks his child out of frustration. I am not joking, this is precisely what some people believe.
