A great historical novel about Muslim Sicily, if you have not read it, is Tariq Ali's "A Sultan in Palermo".
Thanks for the tip Abu Kareem, I'll check it out once I finish from Robin's novel.
Indeed Aramco have good articles on Muslim/Arab art and architectural history.
