I've decided that when somebody tells me they are from Lebanon I will ask them which Lebanon they are from. There seem to be many Lebanons and each one has it's own version of history. So far I see that there is the Phoenician Lebanon, nostalgic for French occupation and which believes itself to be the Paris of the orient, the 'Beiruti' Lebanon which is just one non-stop party and where most people speak somebody elses language and have more money than sense, then there are the Islamic and Arab Lebanons.
