I read this section and felt ashamed:
Young Arabs from different countries joined the struggle, receiving training in camps in Jordan, and later in Lebanon -- this was well before the emergence of Dubai as the object of aspiration of Arab youths. Palestine was the destination then.

yeah, those were different times, my friend, not just in arab lands, but all over the world.

I don't know...I think the world has changed. Earlier the world was more revolutionary...Nasser, Che Geuvara, Arafat etc etc etc....people don't seek to change the world anymore, they just accept it :-(
You know what Arima? I don't think it's even that. If you take a look at the people who wanted to change the world before, you get clear, articulate ideas which range in complexity. I read and meet activists today, I see people who are clueless. Dumbed down activism for dumbed down causes, it's like nobody wants to study and think anymore.
